Michelin Alley 2007 – 2016
Michelin Alley 2007 – 2016
Through the first 99 issues of The Alley we’ve tried to cover a lot of interesting people and cars.
Audi’s Allan McNish, Tom Kristensen and Rinaldo Capello were the first drivers to be featured on the cover of The Alley. Along the road we’ve profiled stars like Adrian Fernandez, Patrick Long, Scott Sharp, Simon Pagenaud, Lucas Luhr, Scott Pruett, Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia, Joey Hand, Patrick Pilet, Tommy Milner, Oliver Gavin, Joerg Bergmeister and many others.
One of the most popular covers featured a seated Jordan Taylor with his mullet about to be chopped by his brother, Ricky.
BMW’s California beach boy Bill Auberlen was pictured with a surf board. Viper’s Kuno Wittmer appeared with a hockey stick and jersey. David Brabham seemingly made his helmet levitate.
Porsche’s Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber appeared on opposite covers of an expanded issue. Giancarlo Fisichella sipped an espresso. Christian Fittipaldi posed with a movie clapperboard, while Mazda’s Jonathan (JBom) Bomarito reluctantly tossed a basketball photo shopped into a cartoon like bomb.
Cars are often the stars of The Alley covers with everything from Audis, to Acuras, Aston Martins, BMWs, Corvettes, Ferraris, Fords, Porsches, Hondas, Mazdas, Vipers, the DeltaWing, and even Peugeot featured.
The Alley takes a positive approach to the series and its key players, and even got IMSA’s Geoff Carter to explain the current world of Balance of Performance (BoP).
Guest writers along the way have included Marshall Pruett, John Dagys, Tony DiZinno, Steven Cole Smith, Brian Wagner and Rick Voegelin.
In earlier days we caught up with with principles, engineers and other motorsports personalities including Muscle Milk’s Greg Pickett, Highcroft’s Duncan Dayton, Flying Lizards’ Seth Neiman, Dyson Racing’s Chris Dyson and Gil de Ferran.
More recently, we’ve gone behind the scenes with Corvette Racing’s Doug Fehan, BMW Team RLL’s Bobby Rahal, CORE’s Jon Bennett, Mazda’s John Doonan and last week helped introduce Ford’s Mark Rushbrook.
