Michelin 2019 contingencies announced

October 25, 2019

Heading into Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Michelin announced results of its 2019 Contingency program to teams competing with Michelin’s commercial range slick compound tires.

Teams in IMSA WeatherTech Championship GT Daytona, IMSA MICHELIN Pilot Challenge GS and TCR and IMSA Prototype Challenge LMP3 classes earned product-based awards from “unexpected performances” on track.

Contingencies are retroactive this season, having started at the Sahlen’s Six Hours at the Glen and going through Michelin Raceway, and determined in consultation with IMSA following a review with its timing & scoring department.

For race-by-race awards, GTD contingencies were awarded to the team that set fastest lap. The GS and TCR contingencies went to the leader at halfway. LMP3’s contingencies went to the car with the most positions gained.

For full season awards, teams were rewarded for spending the least amount of time in the pits.

Further communication about Michelin’s 2020 Contingencies program will be announced following the Michelin IMSA SportsCar Encore at Sebring International Raceway, November 9-10. The four-hour non-points race is opened to teams that run these four classes of cars.
