Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca Deal Extended
At a time when other naming rights deals are fading, Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) and the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP) have renewed their vows, keeping the track as Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca through at least 2016.
“At Mazda, we don’t have company picnics, we have track days,” said Jay Amestoy, Vice President, Public Affairs and Motorsports for MNAO. “We are enthusiasts at heart, and it shows in the vehicles we build. No Mazda reaches the showroom without extensive development and testing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.”
Mazda’s support, which began in 2001, has helped the non-profit organization make major improvements including permanent pit lane garages, luxury hospitality suites, and spectator enhancements. The track is an important economic engine for the Monterey Peninsula.
In addition to this weekend’s American Le Mans Monterey race, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca also hosts the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix featuring the MotoGP World Championship, and the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.
