Marino keen to jump in first!
Marino Franchitti is having a tough time getting to drive in the actual races this season.
He skipped the early races to develop the Nissan DeltaWing.
He tested at several tracks and practiced at Le Mans, but his first race stint was due to begin six hours into the race and the car was shoved into a wall after five.
He returned to the ALMS at Mosport and was to take the hand-off from PR1 Mathiasen’s Ken Dobson, but he too fell victim to a wrong place, wrong time moment. He may want to call shotgun this weekend when he lines up for PR1 Mathiasen with Mexican ace Rudy Junco.
“It’s been great to get some decent mileage in the LMPC car, but there’s a big difference between testing a car and racing it, so I’m excited to get the chance to do that this weekend,” Franchitti explained.
“It’s been a real pleasure getting to know Rudy, we’re working very well together already and hopefully we can get a good result for the team. They certainly deserve it after the challenges of the last couple of races.”
