Marcelli’s first in Intersport LMPC 1-2
Mosport LMPC pole winner Kyle Marcelli bounced back from his home race disappointment to team with Tomi Drissi to win the LMPC class at Mid-Ohio – taking a 1-2 finish for Intersport Racing.
Long-time prototype aces Jon and Clint Field took second in their home event to make the second race in a row where one LMPC team has finished 1-2 in the class.
PR1 Mathiasen Motorsport scored third place with David Cheng and Javier Echeverria – the first podium of the season for the team and a top three result on debut for Cheng and Echeverria.
Championship leaders CORE autosport had a race they would rather forget. Both Ricardo Gonzalez and Gunnar Jeannette suffered spins after contact which seriously delayed them. Teammates Jon Bennett and Frankie Montecalvo were also delayed after a off-track excursion in the heavy rain.
Despite finishing fourth and sixth and off the podium for the first time this year, CORE actually increased their championship lead in both the team’s and driver’s championship by two points.
