Marcelli masters Laguna LMPC pole
Marcelli masters Laguna LMPC pole
Young Americans Gunnar Jeannette and Eric Lux may be fighting it out for the LMPC championship, but it was the Canadian young gun Kyle Marcelli who was again the star of the day in qualifying in the LMPC class at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca today.
Fresh from his win in Baltimore alongside Tomy Drisi, Marcelli collected his second pole of the year – backing up his performance from Mosport earlier this season.
Jeannette threw everything at his effort to claim the pole – nearly pitching the Mexican Independence Day-liveried CORE Autosport machine into the local scenery after a wild off track excursion.
He had to settle for second ahead of title rival Lux. Jeannette and teammate Ricardo Gonzalez hold a single one point lead over Genoa Racing driver Lux in the driver’s championship.
Andy Wallace returned to the LMPC class to claim fourth in his first outing with CORE autosport. Wallace is driving with Jon Bennet and Frankie Montecalvo this weekend.
