Magnussen tops final practice at VIR

mags_replaceCorvette Racing topped the timesheet in final practice at Virginia International Raceway with Jan Magnussen topping the times aboard the No.3 machine.

The Danish ace recorded a time of 1:41.637 to be 0.025 of a second faster than the Ford GT of Dirk Mueller.

mags_FP3_p1_2The No.3 Corvette is having strong weekend after a test earlier this week at Road Atlanta. Magnussen’s teammate Antonio Garcia was fastest yesterday in the second practice session.

“It’s super close… so close. You have to it just right!” Magnussen said.

“The Corvette is good. We had a good test earlier in the week at Atlanta where we tried some stuff we could carry on into year.

“I’m happy. It’s loads of fun out there. There is a ton of grip on the new tarmac. Because it’s so close, you’re out there looking for hundredths of a second and trying to clean everything up to be right at 100 percent.

“It’s good now but this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon are what counts.”

While the No.3 Corvette has been showing strong pace, the championship leading No.4 hasn’t matched their teammates so far this weekend. Tommy Milner was only seventh fastest in this morning’s session.

Incredibly the top seven cars were separated by only 0.290 of a second this morning with four different brands filling the top four spots – Corvette, Ford, BMW and Ferrari.

In the GTD class the Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini topped the times for the third session in a row this morning with Madison Snow at the wheel.

Qualifying is up next with GTD scheduled for 11:55am and GTLM at 12:20pm.
