Magnussen looking to Sebring and beyond
While Jan Magnussen and Corvette Racing is eagerly awaiting the race start for today’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, the Dane is also looking at today’s race as a preview for what he can expect at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Magnussen is lining up with regular co-driver, Spaniard Antonio Garcia and young American star Jordan Taylor.
Garcia qualified fifth yesterday in a packed GT field which will feature BMW, Porsche, Ferrari and SRT taking on Corvette.
“I’m really looking forward to this race. The plan is to go and try and win this one, but if we get to a situation anytime during the race where we can see that a win is not really on the cards anymore then we’re going to have to look to maximize our points because we do have a long hard championship,” Magnussen said.
“The competition here at Sebring is really tough. The new Risi Ferrari we’ll have to deal with all year – they are very fast. The two Astons are also super competitive and if we’re lucky we can try and use them to get them between us and the competition to steal some points.
“But that can also go against us so we’ll have to keep a really good eye on what they’re doing.
“They will also give us an idea of what we will be up against at Le Mans as well. That will be very useful information.’
