Luhr back to full speed – on and off track
Muscle Milk Pickett Racing continued its American Le Mans Series dominance after scoring pole position at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course today.
German ace Lucas Luhr stopped the clocks at 1:11.019 after only completing eight laps in qualifying. The team’s HPD P1 machine was .7 of a second faster than the Dyson Racing Lola of Chris Dyson.
The Benicia, CA-based team has won the past four ALMS races in succession and were unlucky not to take maximum points at Sebring after a late race issue with the car’s refueling system.
Luhr is also back to full speed on and off the track. The German injured his ankle during the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park weekend, leaving the track on Saturday evening on crutches. He is now back on his feet and untroubled by the injury.
Luhr and teammate Klaus Graf currently hold a 12 point lead in the P1 driver’s championship. The duo are not about to rest on their laurels however. Luhr spoke to Michelin Alley after qualifying and explained they are always keeping a close eye on their rivals.
