Long Beach flashback
Long Beach flashback
After missing out on Sebring success in 2012, Muscle Milk Pickett Racing came back to dominate last year’s Long Beach round of the American Le Mans Series.
A late full system problem robbed the team of victory at Sebring, but Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf combined dominate Long Beaach – their second consecutive win here.
Armed with the latest generation of the ultra-successful Michelin “street soft” race tires helped the Muscle Milk HPD Honda prototype of Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf overcome an extra pit stop and power to a 43.66 second victory over the Dyson Racing Mazda of Chris Dyson and Guy Smith.
Corvette Racing kicked off their 2012 championship charge in Long Beach with a win for Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner.
Last year’s Long Beach race was a day of firsts for Corvette Racing – the first GT class victory for the GM brand plus the first class win for Milner.
Their day could have been even better had the No.03 Corvette of Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen not lost the hood of the car and damaged the rear wing in a traffic jam impact on the opening lap.
