Le Mans Prototype Challenge Class Entries

The 2011 season marks year two for the LMPC class in the American Le Mans Series. Many of the top drivers and team combinations return, along with some exciting new entries in the one-make class. All in the class run the Oreca FLM09 prototype with a 450-hp Chevrolet engine and single specification, customer MICHELIN® tires.

The 2010 champions Level 5 Motorsports have moved up to LMP2, and class runner-up Gunnar Jeannette switches over to the new CORE Autosport team. Assembled by Jon Bennett with the former Level 5 equipment, a lot of pieces are in place for a win on the team’s debut. Jeannette, Ricardo Gonzalez and Rudy Junco Jr. race in car No. 006, with Bennett, Frankie Montecalvo and Ryan Dalziel in the No. 005.

Genoa Racing also has a pair of cars. The Thomas Knapp-led crew steered its No. 036 car to four podium finishes in 2010 and adds a second entry this year. Jeannette’s 2010 co-driver Elton Julian races in that entry with Eric Lux and Christian Zugel (No. 063), with Jens Peterson, Dane Cameron and Michael Guasch slated to wheel the No. 036.

The remaining four cars feature PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports in its Sebring debut (No. 052, Henri Richard, Ken Dobson, Ryan Lewis), Kyle Marcelli back for another go with Intersport (No. 089, with Rusty Mitchell, Tomy Drissi), Johnny Mowlem in another Sebring appearance (WRO No. 038 with Luca Moro, Olivier Lombard), and Performance Tech returning for the first time since Long Beach 2010 (No. 018, Anthony Nicolosi, Jarrett Boon, Jan-Dirk Leuders).
