This is the fourth in a 24 Hours of Le Mans preview series. Check back to michelinracingusa.com for more features and posts in the coming days.

Racing’s “renaissance man,” now the former Minister of Science and Innovation in the U.K., Paul Drayson makes his second trip to Le Mans, but first in the prototype category. Drayson lives and breathes green, from the legendary British Racing Green car color that adorns his LMP1 Lola Judd coupe, to his continual efforts to make racing a greener sport.

Drayson’s team has scored two podium finishes this season in the MICHELIN® GREEN X® Challenge in ALMS, which recognizes teams that go the farthest, fastest and with least environmental impact. Drayson is also one of five members of the ALMS’ “Green Dream Team,” who work each race to promote efficient dynamics and clean technologies.

On track, the No. 11 Drayson Racing entry, which runs on second generation Cellulosic E85 ethanol, will have a chance to finish as one of the top gasoline runners in the field. Drayson is joined by longtime co-driver Jonny Cocker and veteran Emanuele Pirro, who makes his return to Le Mans after a year’s hiatus.

While Drayson and Cocker look for their first finish in their second Le Mans start, Pirro is a Le Mans legend with five overall victories driving for Audi (2000-02, 06-07). Pirro starred in the ALMS season opener at Sebring, making a pass on one of the leading Peugeots on the outside of turn 17 in the first hour for second place overall.
