Le Mans line-up confirmed
The field for this year’s Le Mans 24 Hour was unveiled in Paris today for the 82nd running of the classic French endurance race.
31 full season cars from the FIA WEC will grow to 56 for the June 14-15 race including the revolutionary NissanZEOD RC which occupies “Garage 56” for new and innovative technology.
Today’s press conference also unveiled a new logo for the 24 Hours of Le Mans (pictured right)
Porsche’s return as a factory prototype team will be a highlight as the winningest manufacturer in the race’s history (16 victories) aims to take on their German counterparts Audi who have been the dominant force in this millennium with 12 wins.
American fans will watch the GTE-Pro class with interest as two cars teams from SRT and Corvette take on factory entries from Porsche and Aston Martin plus a trio of Ferraris.
For SRT, they have found a handy replacement for IndyCar star Ryan Hunter-Reay who can’t contest Le Mans due to a scheduling conflict. Jeroen Bleekemolen will fill his slot – transferring across from the SRT GT-Daytona class TUDOR championship entry.
The entry list also includes Patrick Dempsey who returns in partnership with Proton aboard a Porsche.
Two other American racers are on the reserve list – Chris Dyson in a Caterham Racing entry and the Risi Competizione-run entry for Tracy Krohn.
