Le Mans GTE Preview: Aston Martin
Le Mans GTE Preview: Aston Martin
All 34 cars in the two GTE classes at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans will race with Michelin. Michelin Racing USA will take a look at all six manufacturers entered and their lineups. Here is a look at Aston Martin, which is finding its momentum as the FIA World Endurance Championship heads towards its conclusion.
ASTON MARTIN
Quick overview: While last year was only the second race for Aston Martin’s new Vantage AMR, now the car has been developed and improved for more than a year. Results have started to come as well with the No. 95 car scoring the new car’s first win in Shanghai, and the No. 97 car winning last time out in the crazy mix of conditions in Spa-Francorchamps.
Changes from 2018: The car will run lighter this year in GTE-Pro. All four entries, two apiece in GTE-Pro and GTE-Am, feature identical lineups.
Test day recap: The two pro cars were ninth and 14th with the two Am cars 10th and 12th. Not a ton to report here.
Quotes of note:
Maxime Martin: “We’ve not always been lucky so far in this campaign, but to get to the end of the season with a win like this, at my home race at Spa, is the best way to capture my first win for Aston Martin
