This year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans has crossed the halfway point, even if here that means it is 3:00 a.m. local time. The length completed and to go — 12 hours — is the same as the longest American Le Mans Series event of the season at Sebring.

Mike Rockenfeller’s accident in the No. 1 Audi brought the race to a crawl for nearly two and a half hours. The important thing was that Rockenfeller was reported to be in good condition despite what was described as a savage accident, the second of the day for the factory Audi teams.

Left to carry the flag for the German manufacturer is the No. 2 car, the polesitting entry driven by Benoit Treluyer, Andre Lotterer and Marcel Fassler. The newest drivers for Audi have the challenge of fending off four Peugeots—the three factory efforts and the previous generation 908 HDi FAP fielded by Team Oreca Matmut.

Pescarolo Team’s Pescarolo Judd leads the unofficial petrol subdivision of LM P1 ahead of Rebellion Racing and their Lola B10/60 Coupe Toyota. The Greaves Motorsport Zytek leads the LM P2 class.

GTE Pro still has Corvette out front but the sister No. 73 car, the No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari and the No. 59 Luxury Ferrari are still in tow. Porsche entries from ProSpeed and Flying Lizard are hanging in the mix.

In GTE Am, Larbre Competition leads with both of its cars, a 2010-spec Corvette and 2010-spec Porsche.
