Lally scores pole for Dempsey del Piero
The formation of Dempsey del Piero Racing may have come together late for this year’s American Le Mans Series but the team kicked off on the right note with Andy Lally scoring the team’s first pole position on debut today in Sebring.
Lally pulled out a lap of 2:05.446 on the final lap of qualifying to push Jeroen Bleekemolen back to second.
Lally will drive with Patrick Dempsey and fellow team owner Joe Foster in their first run aboard the Porsche in tomorrow’s 61st running of the Sebring endurance classic.
“It is a a great escape to get out of Hollywood and be here with everybody in the paddock. That what means the most to me to be here,” Dempsey said.
“You really just concentrate on so many things that you just really hope to get a good result at the end of that. We’ve been working on the process and getting the car prepared as much as you can and then the results will follow after that.
“You don’t worry about the expectations of what you would like to have happen you just go out and do what you can do and make the best of it.
“Andy did a great job and it is certainly brilliant to get the pole in our first race with Porsche.”
