Kristensen – “This is the triple crown”
He has eight Le Mans victories, five wins at Sebring but only a single triumph at Petit Le Mans – Audi’s Tom Kristensen is back and he is hungry for more.
The most successful sportscar driver in history, Kristensen’s sole Road Atlanta win came with Dindo Capello back in 2002.
The great Dane (that’s a descriptor for his country of birth, not his favorite breed of dog) knows the Audi squad have a fight on their hands with Peugeot topping the morning timesheet here at Road Atlanta.
This race is big, and Kristensen knows it.
“This is part of the “Grand Slam” – you have Sebring and Petit Le Mans – these races plus the 24 Hours of Le Mans are the biggest races in modern sportscar racing,” Kristensen said.
“The track, the crowd, the venue – everyone loves it. Sebring is the beginning of the year and it would be nice to continue to come back here for the end of the year.”
