KohR goes for third Sebring win in 12 months

March 5, 2019

The KohR Motorsports team had a perfect 2018 at Sebring International Raceway. Later this month at Sebring, it’ll look to bounce back from a tough 2019 IMSA MICHELIN Pilot Challenge opener at Daytona.

The young but potent pairing of Kyle Marcelli and Nate Stacy captured the win at Sebring last March. By year’s end, they’d finished second in the highly competitive GS class.

In November, team principal Dean Martin entered the team’s two Ford Mustang GT4s in the non-points Michelin IMSA SportsCar Encore.

While there were not points on the line, the race allowed KohR a chance to work with Michelin in a competitive, yet relaxed atmosphere ahead of the 2019 season. The team promptly dominated the weekend in GT4, and scored the class win with Marcelli, Stacy and Martin sharing the No. 60 Ford.

At Daytona, an incident took the team out of at least top-five contention. They fell to a 27th place finish in the GS class.

But where better than Sebring to turn things around? Marcelli and Stacy have a shot at a three-peat.

The team’s second car (DJ Randall, Rod Randall, Kenny Wilden) came third at the Encore and 11th in the season opener at Daytona. It adds support to the KohR effort.

The IMSA MICHELIN Pilot Challenge Alan Jay Automotive Network 120 takes place Friday, March 15 at Sebring. This two-hour race streams live at 12:05 p.m. ET on Friday on IMSA.TV, with IMSA Radio commentary.
