Ex-Formula 1 and IndyCar racer and prominent sportscar star Stefan Johansson joined forces with Level 5 Motorsport this weekend.
Last seen in the ALMS paddock when teammates with David Brabham at Highcroft Racing in 2008, Johansson will drive with Guy Cosmo and Marino Franchitti this weekend.
“I tested with them a while back at COTA, with the view of maybe doing something, for the fact I’m a Silver driver now,” Johansson told Sportscar 365 today.
“When I stepped off the plane in London on Sunday there was a message to call. I spent two days in Europe and flew back again.
“It’s exciting. I’m flattered they called me. It’s great to be with a top-level team again.”
Johansson made 103 Formula 1 race starts with 10 different F1 teams including McLaren and Ferrari.
He also drove in the CART World Series for 73 races and scored the Rookie of the year award in 1992.
This year he has made one ALMS start with BAR1 Motorsports in the PC class at the 12 Hours of Sebring.
