Tommy Milner and Oliver Gavin Celebrate Corvette's Second Consecutive Win of the 2012 season

Every team has its “bogey” track, a place where success is hard to find. For Corvette Racing, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has been such a track since the team’s move into the GT2 (now GT) class in the American Le Mans Series in 2009.

Doug Louth, the engineering director for Corvette Racing said, “last year, Laguna was probably our toughest event.”

New rules for 2012 have meant new opportunities and Corvette Racing has worked hard to adjust. “The biggest difference this weekend was the 2012 Michelin tires and the work that engineers Chuck Houghton and Kyle Millay did to arrive at the baseline setup for this event,” sad Louth.

The Corvettes rolled off the trailer well, qualified second and fifth, and raced well in the changing conditions of the six-hour race.

The growing confidence in Tommy Milner, paired with the ultra-sharp Oliver Gavin delivered a second straight win, this time with teammates Antonio Garcia and the magic man in traffic, Jan Magnussen taking second.

The transition from “toughest event” in 2011 to a 1-2 finish in 2012 tells the story.
