How hot is hot?
With track temps soaring into the 130 degrees range yesterday at Lime Rock Park and more hot weather on the agenda for today – the teams, drivers, cars and tires are set for added punishment in Connecticut today.
Compared to Sebring, Long Beach and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, this weekend will be the hottest ALMS weekend of the season so far.
Peak track temps hit 101 degrees F at Sebring – the only time this year teams have raced under such hot conditions. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca went close at 98, but the temps quickly began to fall in the afternoon Monterey sun.
But if you think it is hot standing on the hill watching the action, spare a thought for the drivers who are wrapped in three layers of nomex from head to toe like Risi’s Olivier Beretta (pictured above)
At least for the closed cockpit cars and GTs like the SRT Viper pictured below, air conditioning is mandatory.
