Although this week’s American Le Mans Series race in Sebring, Fla. is thousands of miles away from the island country of Japan, the series and teams here are doing their part to help the nation after it was devastated by a massive earthquake on March 11.

Highcroft Racing will spread its support for helping Japan via signage on its HPD ARX-01e’s sidepods and rear wing, next to a symbol of the Japanese flag. All three drivers, defending ALMS prototype champions David Brabham, Simon Pagenaud and Marino Franchitti, will also have the words “Help Japan” on their helmet visors.

HPD, Honda Performance Development, has been represented by Highcroft since the 2007 ALMS season.

The team also has highlighted the Network for Good website, which can assist for anyone interested in donating and/or volunteering.

Highcroft has created a section on its website with more information, at //www.highcroftracing.com/help-japan.

The ALMS itself will also place signs around the track, inviting fans and viewers to donate by texting REDCROSS to 90999 in order to make a contribution to the relief efforts in Japan. All donations will go toward relief.

Also of note, the PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports team in the LMP Challenge class has launched a “12 for 12” campaign. One of the No. 052’s drivers, Henri Richard, will donate $12 for each lap the team completes. The team has its website at //www.silicontechracing.com/japan. Richard co-drives with Ken Dobson and Ryan Lewis in the car.
