Formula E’s Miami Gala Dinner – the official pre-race charity event – helped leave a lasting legacy this evening as series Founding Partner Michelin generously donated $100,000 to help improve road safety amongst Miami teenagers.
Held at the Perez Art Museum and attended by dignitaries, teams, drivers and celebrities, the evening saw Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag and representatives from Michelin North America hand over the six-figure cheque to winners the American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association.
The scheme, launched earlier this year and linked to the FIA’s Action for Road Safety Campaign, will also extend to Formula E’s next race in Long Beach and is designed to raise awareness of tyre maintenance and safety among new drivers.
In addition, a charity auction was also held during the evening to support Formula E’s foundations with the prize being a behind the scenes raceday experience with home team Andretti.
Distinguished guests included Mayors Tomás Pedro Regalado, Mayor of Miami city, and Mayor of Miami-Dade County Carlos Gimenez, supermodel KarolÃna Kurková, motorsport legend Emerson Fittipaldi and Formula E drivers Nelson Piquet and Jarno Trulli.
