Hargrove –Pigot face-off in Porsche GT3 Canada
Two of the fastest rising drivers in North American competition, Scott Hargrove and Spencer Pigot will start 1-2 in today’s first race of the 2014 Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario.
Hargrove, age 19, of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada set a new track class record in qualifying at 1:20.609 aboard his Open Road Racing Porsche, to shade Allegra Motorsports’ Pigot, 20, by just 0.045 seconds. The two have combined to sweep all six rounds of the Pro Mazda championship so far this season.
The race on the iconic 2.459 mile circuit marks the series debut of the new Porsche 911 GT3.
Row two features a pair of Montreal drivers; Etienne Borgeat of GT Racing will start third alongside Chris Green of Pfaff Motorsports.
Sunny and cool conditions are expected for the 45 minute race starting at 3:10pm this afternoon.
