Half Way Update: Rolex 24 at Daytona
At the half way point of the Rolex 24 at Daytona, seven DP cars were still on the lead lap including the leading Ganassi entry of Scott Pruett, Dario Franchitti, Jamie McMurray and ALMS BMW star Joey Hand.
Corvette endurance driver Jordan Taylor was running second in the Wayne Taylor Racing entry while features last year’s ALMS PC class champion, Alex Popow; PC class race winner Ryan Dalziel, IndyCar star Sebastien Bourdais and Audi regular and Le Mans winner, Allan McNish.
In the GT class, the Scuderia Corsa Michelotto Ferrari which features former ALMS Viper, Panoz and Corvette driver Olivier Beretta held the overall lead.
However, the Ferrari was under pressure from the factory Audi R8 entered by Alex Job Racing.
The factory car includes three of Audi’s young guns including Le Mans R18 driver Olly Jarvis and DTM regulars Filipe Albuquerque and Edoardo Mortara. The car’s fourth driver is Dion von Moltke who drove an Alex Job GTC car to win the class last year’s opening round of the American Le Mans Series – the 12 Hours of Sebring.
