Half way home at Mazda Raceway

At the half way point at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Muscle Milk Racing’s HPD entry was dominating proceedings – holding a huge lead of more than two laps.

Klaus Graf started the race for the local squad and despite being second into turn one, he quickly gained the upper hand and streaked away. After handing over to teammate Lucas Luhr, the gap grew even larger with Luhr recording the fastest lap of the race on lap 111.

A yellow just before half way was a disaster for Level 5 Motorsport in P2. While Scott Tucker still lead in the No.95 car, their No.55 machine with Franck Montagny at the wheel clashed with the GTC class JDX Racing Porsche, sending both cars into the wall.

In the PC division, new CORE autosport recruit Tom Kimber-Smith was impressive in his opening stint and after handing over to championship leader Alex Popow, the duo were leading at the half way mark.

Popow already has two race wins to his credit this year and is looking to make it a hat-trick.

The yellow flag was also a disaster for the Corvette of Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner. Milner held the lead coming in to pit after the yellow but a refueling issue dropped him down the pack. Joey Hand led for BMW on the restart with the sister Corvette of Antonio Garcia hot on his heals.
