Gunnar grabs the Baltimore pole
Gunnar Jeannette and teammate Ricardo Gonzalez may have been off the podium for the past two LMPC races but the championship leaders look like they are out to make amends on the streets of Baltimore.
Jeannette scored his third pole position of season today – outpacing Canadian rival Kyle Marcelli by only 0.066 of a second.
The CORE autosport pair’s chief championship rival Eric Lux will start third tomorrow after his teammate Elton Julian put the #63 Genoa Racing third (and 5th) overall in qualifying.
In what loom as a fiercely competitive race tomorrow – there is basically a two second gap between the LMP1 and LMPC machines, and a further two seconds between LMPC and the GT front runners.
Unfortunately for the race winning PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports car from Road America, the #52 car was pushed to the back of the LMPC qualifying grid after Ryan Lewis was penalized for avoidable contact the session.
