GT fuel mileage secrets

2013-08-09 at 16-03-10Want to know how GT teams save fuel during a race? Check out this great video from CORE autosport’s Patrick Long who reveals some of the secrets used by teams to get the most miles per gallon out on the race track.

Long will again team with Tom Kimber-Smith at Road America tomorrow. Both are no stranger to success at the Elkhart Lake circuit. The American ace has two GT wins here while Kimber-Smith won on debut for CORE autosport in the GT class last season.

The American/English duo will start seventh tomorrow in a very tightly packed GT field.

“The GT field is incredibly tight. To split the BMWs and be ahead of the Risi car, we have to keep in perspective that it is a job well done,” Long said.

“It’s incredible to see how far this field has progressed in 12 months if we look at the lap times. We don’t know what to expect for the race, but we’ll keep the overall agenda at the forefront, which is to continue to grow as a group, collect data and work on that whole process of strategy, pit stops and drivers hitting their marks.
