At Sunday night’s American Le Mans Series banquet, not only were the on-track champions rewarded with their trophies, but so too were the 2010 champions of the leading environmental competition in motorsports.

The MICHELIN® GREEN X® Challenge champions for 2010 are Highcroft Racing HPD (Prototype) and Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche (GT). Winners at each race are determined by cars that travel the farthest, fastest and with the smallest environmental impact. Over the season, each team recorded three wins in the MICHELIN® GREEN X® Challenge. While Highcroft races with the baseline fuel of E10, Flying Lizard captured the title on second generation Cellulosic E85R ethanol.

Petit Le Mans marked a milestone event as all five energy sources – E10, E85R, Isobutanol, GTL diesel and hybrid technology, were present on track for the first time.
