Fisichella – welcome to America
Fisichella – welcome to America
Three-time Formula 1 race winner Giancarlo Fisichella is ready for his first full season of American competition in 2014 when he lines up with Risi Competizione for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.
Fisichella finished his Formula 1 career behind the wheel of a Ferrari filling in for the injured Felipe Massa in 2009. He went on to become a Ferrari F1 test driver and began driving GT cars for the famous Italian prancing horse marque.
He has enjoyed a highly successful stint with Ferrari, taking two championship wins and victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2012.
For 2014, he will switch his attention to the US – aiming for a TUDOR championship win with Matteo Malucelli.
“I’m looking forward to the season because it is a new challenge for me. I like the championship and the atmosphere – it is going to be tough but I’m really looking forward to it,” Fisichella said.
“Discovering new tracks this year will be great – that is always nice. I know the tracks here in America are really nice so I’m very happy about that. My teammate Matteo will help me and we’ll work together but I am sure we will be fine.”
