It’s race day for two different Michelin series on two different continents as both FIA Formula E and the FIA World Endurance Championship take to the track for the NYC ePrix and Six Hours of Nurburgring, respectively.

Sam Bird of DS Virgin Racing clinched the win in Formula E’s first race in the Big Apple, the first international motor race sanctioned within the five boroughs. He’ll try to defend that victory today against the likes of Daniel Abt, Alex Lynn, Felix Rosenqvist and Nick Heidfeld, all of whom are looking for redemption in the concrete jungle of New York City after disappointing races yesterday.

Qualifying for Sunday’s ePrix runs at 9:00 AM ET to set the field for the 1:00 PM race.

Across the Atlantic, Michelin shod cars have already taken to the track for the Six Hours of Nurburgring in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The No. 7 Toyota Gazoo Racing machine, driven by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez, starts on pole for the six-hour enduro. Lopez is missing the New York City ePrix and, coincidentally, his replacement driver for the weekend, Alex Lynn, also scored a pole position yesterday.

Toyota starts ahead of the pair of Porsche 919 Hybrids with the Le Mans winning No. 2 entry of Earl Bamber, Brendon Hartley and Timo Bernhard just beating out the No. 1 driven by Neel Jani, Nick Tandy and Andre Lotterer.

Though they missed out on pole in LMP1, Porsche did claim the top spot in GTE-Pro qualifying with the No. 91 911 RSR of Michael Christensen and Kevin Estre taking the honors ahead of the No. 95 Aston Martin and the sister No. 92 Porsche.
