Ford Chip Ganassi Racing topped both Friday practice sessions for Sunday’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen.

Michelin technical partner teams in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s GT Le Mans class return to action this weekend in Watkins Glen, N.Y.

Richard Westbrook led the morning one-hour session at 1:43.214, then went quicker in the afternoon at 1:42.886 in the No. 67 Ford GT. Westbrook shares that car with Ryan Briscoe, and the pair of drivers won here in 2016.

Both Fords were 1-2 in the morning and afternoon as well, with the No. 66 Ford just behind both times. Joey Hand and Dirk Mueller clocked in second.

Porsche was third in both sessions, as well, with the No. 911 car third in the morning and No. 912 car third in the afternoon.

Corvette was next after Porsche, while BMW had a tough afternoon fighting through some electrical issues with its M8 GTE cars.

Romain Dumas led overall and Prototype for the day in the No. 54 CORE autosport Oreca 07 Gibson. The Frenchman, who is hot off his new record run at Pikes Peak, posted a best time of 1:33.481 around the 3.4-mile Watkins Glen International circuit.

Land Motorsport led in GT Daytona with Sheldon van der Linde in the No. 29 Audi R8 LMS. His best time was 1:45.191.

Both Dumas and van der Linde, like Westbrook, set their fastest laps in the afternoon session.

The WeatherTech Championship has its third practice on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. ET and local time. Qualifying begins at 11:35 a.m. ET.
