Five For Flying Lizard at Lime Rock?

It’s one of the more impressive statistics in the ALMS record books. Flying Lizard Porsche has scored four straight wins in the GT class at Lime Rock Park, the 911 having managed to both stay out of trouble on the confines of the tightly-packed 1.474-mile circuit and ahead of its competitors both on pace and strategy.
Jörg Bergmeister has been behind the wheel of all four, the last two with Patrick Long and previously with Wolf Henzler and Johannes van Overbeek.
Bergmeister and Long could use a fifth not just for the record books, but to jump start a challenge to defend their GT class championship for the third time. In the first two races the talented pairing has finished only sixth and 13th in the No. 45 car.
Flying Lizard chief strategist Thomas Blam said this race represents a make-or-break point for creating momentum in the seven remaining ALMS rounds.
“We’ve had our one DNF for the season; we can’t afford anything outside of a top five GT finish from here on out. BMW has won the first two races and has a large points lead. Historically we’ve been very strong at Lime Rock: Jörg has won here with the Lizards four years in a row, the last two with Patrick, who was on the pole in 2010. We need to keep the Lime Rock streak going and build from there.”
In the team’s sister No. 44 entry, Porsche factory driver Marco Holzer makes his third career ALMS start alongside team principal Seth Neiman. This will be Holzer’s first “regular” ALMS race at two hours and 45 minutes; the previous two were endurance races at the 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans.
