Extreme Speed Motorsports book-ended its debut season in the American Le Mans Series on fire, but in two different ways. Owner/driver Scott Sharp learned a lot about the former title when his engine sparked some flames in the Sebring night on debut. But by the end of the season, the fire was in the results — with Sharp, Johannes van Overbeek and Dominik Farnbacher registering a runner-up finish in class at Petit Le Mans, the team’s best to date.
Year two is a big one for ESM. The new striking, black-and-green Patron-sponsored Ferrari F458 Italias are on tap for their first win. Either the trio in the lead car or the underrated Guy Cosmo, improving Ed Brown and reliable new third driver Rob Bell could deliver an impressive result at Sebring.
This is part of a series of previews on Michelin technical partner teams in this year’s 12 Hours of Sebring.
