Edwards no stranger to Daytona sucess
Young BMW star John Edwards is expected to become a regular for the German manufacturer in 2014 in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.
Edwards filled in for Joey Hand when the fellow American had date clashes with his DTM commitments last year in the American Le Mans Series. The 21-year-old quickly showed he had what it took to be successful – scoring the pole and winning at Lime Rock Park with Dirk Mueller.
The BMW ace actually scored an amazing piece of motorsport history here at Daytona. On the 17th of January 2004, the then-12 year-old Edwards won a race at the Skip Barber Series in Daytona and so became the youngest ever winner of a single-seater race.
Edwards is joined at the test this week for BMW alongside Hand, Bill Auberlen, Andy Priaulx and Dirk Mueller aboard the two Z4 GT Le Mans machines.
