One of the longest serving teams and driver combinations racing in the American Le Mans Series is looking forward to signing off on the championship on a high note.

The combination of Chris Dyson and Dyson Racing has made 102 race starts in the series and earned two championships. 2013 will be the final year of the American Le Mans Series before it merges with GRAND-AM to become United SportsCar Racing.

Equipped with an updated Lola-Mazda package now featuring Michelin tires, Dyson and Guy Smith have their sights set on grabbing back the title they won in 2011.

For this weekend at Sebring, Dyson Racing veteran Butch Leitzinger returns as the third driver – back with the team for the first time since 2010.

“The progress this week has been very encouraging. We’ve been building on the progress we’ve been making over the winter in testing. We’ve got a pretty good balance on the car and durability of the tires is really good,” Dyson said.

“We’re looking forward to a really good race. Every Sebring is different but this race really defines the season so if we can start here with a good result then we can start looking at the title.

“But we know you have to come away from this one with a good result. This is a like a season unto itself. For me personally having won the championship twice, I’d love to make it a hat-trick. From the time I was a kid I dreamed about being an IMSA driver and an IMSA champion and I feel like my wildest dreams have come true.

“I’d just like to make them come true again.”
