Dyson Racing’s home race offers the best place to start — a 1-2 on the grid for the Poughkeepsie, N.Y.-based squad at Lime Rock Park in nearby Lakeville, Conn.
The pair of Lola Mazda coupes lapped the 1.474-mile circuit in less than 46 seconds. Chris Dyson captured the pole with Steven Kane second. Dyson clocked in at 45.708 just ahead of Kane at 45.881 seconds.
“It’s a credit to the car that the guys put under us out there,” Dyson said. “Steven showed today just how much talent he’s got (in the second car). He only saw the track for the first time yesterday.”
While Dyson co-drives with Guy Smith, the team’s second car has a pair of ALMS debutantes — Kane and Humaid al Masaood. Klaus Graf fought valiantly to third in the Muscle Milk Aston Martin Racing Lola Aston Martin with several gutsy laps that just missed the mark.

In LMPC, Elton Julian scored his first and Genoa Racing’s second class pole. Julian co-drove with Gunnar Jeannette to win at Lime Rock in class last year, but the two are now on separate teams. Jeannette qualified a close second in the No. 06 CORE autosport car; 48.498 and 48.534 were their respective times.
“This is only the second time I’d been here; last year we had a gearbox problem in qualifying and won, and it was satisfying to win from the back,” Julian said. A repeat win, if it happens, would now come from the front of the grid.
Kyle Marcelli starts third in class in the first of two Intersport LMPC cars, ahead of Jon Bennett in the second CORE entry and Jon Field in the second Intersport entry. Field co-drives with 17-year-old Australian James Kovacic this weekend, who makes his series debut.
