Double duty for Bruno
Doing double-duty this weekend is no problem for Bruno Junqueira. The Brazilian ex-Indy 500 pole winner grabbed the PC class pole yesterday on the streets of Baltimore while also doing time aboard an IndyCar for Sarah Fisher Racing.
Junqueira is filling in for the injured Josef Newgarden – getting plenty of opportunity to get laps around the Baltimore circuit.
He turned a lap of 1:27.464 (83.966 mph) in the No. 9 ORECA FLM09 he drives with Tomy Drissi, who won the PC race last year.
“I’m in cars a lot,” Junqueira said. “You have to completely change your mind-set when you are moving between the two cars. They are very different… night and day.”
He certainly gave it everything he had – eventually damaging the car on his final lap and having to limp back to pit lane to celebrate his second pole of the season.
“I gave it everything I could,” he said.
“The car was dragging and I knew I had to keep going. I was lucky to finish the lap and keep it on pole.”
