Double-duty duo fast in Texas
Double-duty duo fast in Texas
Sportscar fans are rejoicing this weekend as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship come together at the Circuit of The Americas this weekend.
For fans, it is the best of both worlds.
For one American and one British driver – it is a great opportunity to get even more race miles here in Austin.
Ricky Taylor and Richard Bradley are two drivers contesting both races this weekend here in Texas.
A regular in the IMSA series with his brother Jordan for Wayne Taylor Racing aboard their Corvette Daytona Prototype, Ricky rejoined the FIA WEC at the last round in Mexico in the Larbre Competition Corvette in the GTE-Am class.
This weekend he is driving in both races with a Corvette badge on the hood.
In the second IMSA session this afternoon, the Taylor brothers were second fastest behind the similar Corvette of Dane Cameron/Eric Curran.
British ace Bradley scored the LM P2 victory last year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with KCMG and is driving this year in the FIA WEC with Manor – again in the LM P2 class.
Earlier this season at Watkins Glen he made his IMSA debut for Starworks Motorsport in the PC class. This afternoon he topped the times ahead of the PC class top guns Tom Kimber-Smith, Bruno Junqueira and Renger Van der Zane.
The GTLM battle in IMSA again had Ford at the top of the heap – this time the No.67 car with Richard Westbrook at the wheel. In the two IMSA sessions and one FIA WEC practice so far today, Ford has topped all three.
Teans will have their final practice session tomorrow morning at 9:10am before qualifying kicks off from 3:45pm.
