Audi ace Lucas di Grassi is a busy man. Not only is he doing battle for Audi in the FIA World Endurance Championship, he came within a handful of points of becoming the inaugural FIA Formula E champion.

There are dramatic contrasts between newly upgraded 268 horspower Formula E machines and his FIA World Endurance Championship entry which has more than double that on engine power, plus even more hybrid energy.

The tracks are also remarkably different. FIA Formula E races on tight street circuits where one small mistake can have you in the wall with a damaged car. Most of the FIA WEC is run on modern Formula 1-spec circuits enormous amounts of run off – one small mistake is no problem at all.

However, smooth driving and careful management of the available energy on board is where di Grassi feels running both series has been very complimentary for him.

“It is amazing with Formula E because I think they are very complimentary. I can take a lot of things I try to improve in the WEC like pacing and efficient driving and from Formula E it is all about concentration and being on the edge without making mistakes. Efficient driving is very important for both” di Grassi said.

“Even if the cars are completely different – horspower, grip levels, tracks – there are synergies for me as a driver that makes me better to do both.”
