Dempsey Racing’s P2 Petit return
The Atlanta-based Dempsey Racing squad have their sights set on returning to American Le Mans Series P2 competition at Road Atlanta for the season-closing Petit Le Mans.
Patrick Dempsey and Joe Foster made their debut in the P2 class at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca earlier this year and followed that with podium performances at Lime Rock and Road America.
Their Judd-powered Lola will return in Atlanta where Foster will be out to re-learn the Road Atlanta circuit. The local star and former Road Atlanta school instructor knows the track like the back of his hand – but apart from a handful of laps testing the old Panoz LMP1 Roadster nearly 10 years ago, the impending race aboard the Lola will provide Foster with a new challenge of dealing with car which is a lot lighter and possesses a lot more downforce.
The P2 battle for the October 20 race is expected to be fierce with five additional European teams making the journey to Road Atlanta to contest the endurance classic.
