DeltaWing out at Sebring
The DeltaWing appearance at Sebring with a revised car, new engine, tires, team and drivers appeared short-lived as the #0 was the first car into the pits after just five laps.
The car was taken into the paddock to fix an injector but upon its return after a long delay, the car expired with a large cloud of smoke on the main straight – Andy Meyrick pulling off the circuit to avoid dropping fluides on the race track.
Sporting a new engine and revised bodywork for its P1 class debut, the team reportedly struggled with cooling issues earlier in the week.
In the four official practice sessions on Thursday and Friday, the DeltaWing proved highly consistent. Drivers Andy Meyrick and Olivier Pla posted best lap times of 1:55.679; 1:55.701; 1:55.674 and 1:55.957 respectively in the four sessions before qualifying 15th overall at 1:53.866, or 9.98 second off the race pole time set by Audi’s Marcel Fassler.
