Daytona December on-track day complete
Tuesday, December 11 marked the sixth and final 2018 Michelin “on-track opportunity” this season. In total, 38 cars took to the 3.56-mile Daytona International Speedway road course from three IMSA series.
This represented all four IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship classes (DPi, LMP2, GTLM, GTD), both MICHELIN Pilot Challenge classes (GS, TCR) and several IMSA Prototype Challenge cars (LMP3).

Morning clouds and cool temperatures in the high 40s gave way to sunshine and slightly warmer conditions in the afternoon, which set up an appropriate transition through sunset and into nighttime running.
“Today’s conditions were actually ideal for helping teams to experience the cooler and transitional temperatures and for us to round out our data profiles,” said Ken Payne, technical director, Michelin North America.
“We were pleased with the feedback from the teams and drivers and gathered a lot of useful data that will help us all to prepare for the Rolex 24.”
