David Brabham’s reunion
David Brabham’s reunion
David Brabham has stepped back in time this weekend at Sebring by reuniting with Scott Sharp in Patrón colors in a prototype.
The talented British-based Australian drove with Sharp in those green and black colors at Highcroft Racing (pictured below) in 2008 and 2009 – taking the championship in the second season.
He backed that up with another ALMS title in 2010 with Frenchman Simon Pagenaud.
Last year Brabham contested the World Endurance Championship with JRM in a HPD entry but this weekend he’ll line up with Sharp and Guy Cosmo in the No.01 car. The second ESM entry will feature Johannes van Overbeek, Ed Brown and Anthony Lazzaro.
“There are a lot of old faces here at Extreme Speed Motorsport and it is fantastic to be part of the gang again,” Brabham said.
“I have been racing in the World Endurance Championship with JRM and I got a call from Scott a few weeks ago to come and do the P2 race with ESM at Sebring and it’s awesome. It is great to be back with the Patrón guys who I know really well and there are many familiar faces from the Highcroft days here as well.
“It is a really good atmosphere and it reminds me a little of when we were at Highcroft together. We know we’re up against it because the cars have just been delivered and our car in particular is brand new so we haven’t been able to get on top of some of the issues and get a proper run.
“Qualifying won’t mean much for use because we’ll really be trying to dial the car in for the race.”
