Dalziel’s Viper adventure for 2013
While the likes of Allan McNish, Dario and Marino Franchitti have stolen the limelight for Scotland in recent years in international motorsport, fellow countryman Ryan Dalziel stamped his authority on the sport last year with an incredible season.
Dalziel took Starworks Motorsport to wins in the World Endurance Championship in P2 and a Le Mans P2 class win. He also finished second in the GRAND-AM Rolex Series championship and took the win at Watkins Glenn.
In ALMS, Dalziel took three wins in the PC class with CORE autosport taking the victory at Petit Le Mans, Long Beach and Baltimore.
His roster for 2013 includes a return to GT competition in the American Le Mans Series as a third driver for the No.91 SRT Viper for Sebring, Le Mans and Petit Le Mans alongside Dominik Farnbacher and Marc Goosens.
“I’m extremely excited and grateful to be part of the SRT Motorsports program this year,” Dalziel said.
“The first sportscar I ever drove was in GT so this is a bit of a homecoming for me.
“I think the most important thing at Sebring is traffic and keeping the car clean. I have no doubt that the SRT Viper GTS-R has the reliability to get us to the finish line. We have to be smart not only on the track but also in the narrow and always busy pit lane to avoid contact and damage to the car.”
