Crunch time at Sebring
It’s now go time at Sebring – teams have fine tuned their set-up in the four practice sessions over the past two days and now qualifying looms at 3:30pm for the 64th running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
In this morning’s final session Action Express Racing dominated the timesheet again with a 1-2 led by Dane Cameron – the third 1-2 result from four sessions for the Corvette Daytona Prototype squad.
Last year’s pole winner Olivier Pla was third fastest for Michael Shank Racing – the team back on track after a busy night repairing their Ligier which crashed with John Pew at the wheel yesterday.
Mazda continued their promising form with Spencer Pigot fourth fastest.
In the GTLM ranks BMW were fastest again with Bill Auberlen driving. The No.25 BMW has led two of the four practice sessions with the No.100 entry also leading one of the practice outings.
Antonio Garcia was second fastest aboard last year’s GTLM class winning Corvette while Toni Vilander put the Risi Ferrari in P3.
Other class leaders include CORE autosport’s Colin Braun in PC and Spencer Pumpelly in GT Daytona.
The GTD teams are first to line up for qualifying at 3:30pm followed by GTLM at 3:55pm, PC at 4:20pm and Prototypes at 4:45pm.
