Corvette Racing are coming off a huge win at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and judging by their speed tonight at Sebring International Raceway, more success could be around the corner.

briscoe2The Corvette squad went 1-2 in night practice this evening at Sebring with the Daytona-winning No.3 machine topping the times with enduro driver Ryan Briscoe (pictured right) setting the pace.

The IndyCar ace was first in the car this evening before regular pilots Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia climbed aboard.

The second Corvette of Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Simon Pagenaud was second fastest ahead of Dirk Werner’s BMW and Patrick Pilet’s Porsche.

At the front of the pack Olivier Pla showed why he was selected for Nissan’s LM P1 WEC program with a blistering lap for Krohn Racing. Pla became the first and only man today to dip into the 1 minute, 51 second bracket with a time of 1:51.973.

The Frenchman was also fastest in this afternoon’s second practice session.

Sebastien Bourdais was second fastest for Action Express Racing while Ozz Negri was third for Michael Shank Racing aboard their P2-style Ligier.

Three red flag stoppages hindered the night session with Tommy Drissi damaging his PC car with a spin, Negri’s Honda-powered Ligier and Jan Heylen’s GTD-class Porsche also stopped on course.

Tom Kimber-Smith led the PC class ahead of Martin Plowman, Bruno Junqueira and Colin Braun while Mario Franbacher led the GTD division ahead of Spencer Pumpelly and Jeroen Bleekemolen.

Cars are back on track tomorrow at 9:50am for the final practice session before qualifying kicks off at 4:20pm.
