Baltimore GT class winner Wolf Henzler took his second victory of the year today with Bryan Sellars, but the result very nearly came unstuck at the first corner.
Henzler made a great start in his Porsche and charged down the inside into the tight first corner – ending up in a Corvette pile-up.
The #3 Corvette of Olivier Beretta couldn’t turn in because the Porsche had the line, but the #4 ‘Vette of Jan Magussen turned right – unsighted about Henzler’s inside move.
The Dane spun around causing an enormous traffic jam.
Henzler was able to continued and later pulled off a pass for the lead on one of the BMWs. After handing over to Sellars, the Atlanta-based American star pulled off a stunning finish drive to give the Derick Walker-led squad its second win of the year.
Additional contact late in the race between the Corvette and BMW also made for plenty of action in the GT ranks.
Porsche received a performance boost prior to this weekend from IMSA, but the Flying Lizard Motorsports entry of Patrick Long and Joerg Bergmeister were unable to take advantage
