Audi pit work is always exceptional. Note the crewman’s feet are placed near the center section of the front wing to provide maximium leverage for cleaning the windscreen, but not where they could damage the wing. Keeping the canopy screen clear is especially important in changing light conditions and at night.
Most of Audi’s pit stops were comprised of refueling, a canopy screen cleaning, a quick look at the Michelin tires, and a hasty exit.
Tires cannot be changed during refueling, so changes add 18-20 seconds to a pit stop. As a result, Audi typically changes tires only when they change drivers, meaning that the Michelin tires are generally used for three or even four stints.
