CHAMPIONS!
CHAMPIONS!
By passing the 70 percent mark in today’s race, Muscle Milk Pickett Racing has clinched the ALMS P1 prototype championship today at Petit Le Mans. Klaus Graf and Lucas Luhr have claimed the ALMS P1 Driver’s Championship.
The Muscle Milk success also secures the team and ALMS P1 Manufacturer titles for Muscle Milk Pickett Racing and Honda respectively.
And, to ice the cake, Michelin has now secured the P1 Tire Championship, its 12th in 13 seasons.
Luhr battled the first 45 minutes of the race with the Rebellion Racing Lola Toyota before overtaking them during the first pit stop. But an accident with a GTC car placed Luhr in the pits for over an hour to fix the damage. The team was able to return to action with the goal of completing the necessary 70% of the race to clinch the championships. With the teams’ completion of lap 276, the championships were in hand.
The championship was the fifth for Luhr and first for Graf and Muscle Milk Pickett Racing.
